Donovans

Brief History

Named after Mr Tom Donovan whose claim to fame was not connected to the small town. Tom was the man who shot the wolf like animal, later referred to as the Tantanoola Tiger and which is on show in the Tantanoola Hotel. Tom was a very good fisherman. He built a home in the side of the hill, which formed the bank of the Glenelg River. He owned land in the area now known as Donovans. It has always been a good fishing spot with good access to the river.

Now a quiet town, particularly during winter, with many very neat homes with lovely gardens.
