The Mobile Garbage Bin (MGB) must be placed on the footpath, adjacent to your boundary, the night before or prior to 6.00 am on the day of collection.

MGB Calendar 2012-13

 Recycling MGB Service

The recycling MGB service operates in conjunction with the household MGB refuse collection service. The yellow bin lid identifies the 'Recycling Bin' and alternates week about with the household refuse bin.  Your plain green bin is for general refuse only and your yellow lidded bin is for recycling only.  No green waste is to go into either bin or this may risk the collection service of your kerbside mobile garbage bins.  Kerbside MBG collections weeks are identified on the 2012/2013 Calendar with green being the refuse collection week and yellow being the recycling collection week.

As of this year Allendale East's collection has been added to the Calendar. Their pickup is identified by a blue square for recycling and an orange square for general refuse. Please note that these different coloured squares does NOT mean that your collection has changed if you are not in the Allendale East area. If your collection day has always been a Thursday, this has not changed.

To identify which week you are on just look at the colour indicated for the rest of the week days (green or yellow). For example: your pickup for August 9th would be recycling (yellow) and your pickup for August 16th would be general waste (green). The BLUE and ORANGE squares only relate to Allendale East.

A guide as to what can and cannot be recycled is on the calendar for easy reference.

Please refer to the 2012/2013 Calendar for the MGB User Guidelines.

Due to the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) regulations, green waste is not permitted in either MGB (household waste or recycling). A MGB contaminated with green waste cannot be processed due to the EPA regulations and therefore will not be collected. Residents continue to be responsible for their green waste. Council has available for purchase Worm Farms and Compost Bins to assist residents with their green waste. Residents are encouraged to use their Waste Depot Vouchers, provided on the first property rates notice, to remove unwanted waste from their property including green waste.

 Extension of Collection Service

Council will consider the provision of an additional waste collection service to a defined area, on written request, if it meets Council Mobile Garbage Bin Policy.

A minimum acceptance rate of 80% and a minimum number of 40 developed residential properties (occupied house only) on adjoining blocks in a subdivided Country or Rural living zone must be attained for further consideration by Council.

A survey of the proposed designated area will be undertaken to determine the outcome of the proposed new designated MGB area.

The survey results are reported to Council for consideration and the relevant ratepayers will be notified of the outcome.
