Green Waste
As part of our ongoing service, Council will receive minor household green waste including lawn clippings, small prunings and leaves. Tree waste (eg large limbs) will not be accepted. The disposal of green waste will be received at any of the District Council of Grant Refuse Depots.
The Refuse Depots will receive up to a 240 litre sized bin of this material free of charge on presentation of your Refuse Depot Voucher. The Refuse Depot Voucher is for ID purposes of District Council of Grant ratepayers and will not be hole-punched for the disposal of minor household green waste as mentioned above. Your Refuse Dump Voucher is stapled to your first rate notice of the new financial year.
Ratepayers are also encouraged, where possible, to use their green waste for mulching and composting. Food scraps can be disposed of, to minimise odours, with the use of a worm farm. Council has compost bins and worm farms available and details can be found on the back of your Kerbside Recycling Calendar or, alternatively, on the Composting and Worm Farms section of our website.
