Recycling

South Australia's first State-wide waste strategy has been released. The strategy aims to ensure a healthy environment for South Australians now and into the future.

State and Local Government agencies, the waste management industry, business and the community have been involved in helping Zero Waste SA to develop the waste strategy and guide the way in which waste is managed in South Australia.

The strategy establishes waste reduction goals and targets for South Australia and sets out a range of strategies and steps to achieve these goals and targets.  Click here to view the Zero Waste website in full.

Whilst recycling reduces the amount of material going to landfill and facilitates re-use of materials which saves energy and valuable resources, Council encourages thinking ahead to minimise waste reduction by purchasing goods which have little material that requires disposal or recycling.

If you would like to further reduce the waste of resources in your home or business, Council suggests that you consider reducing the use of energy and waste consumption.  Useful information can by found by clicking here.

Other recycling options, information and locations near you can be found at www.recyclingnearyou.com.au or www.kesab.asn.au Alternatively, for recycling do's and don'ts please refer to Council's MGB Recycling Calendar.
