Diversity within the community is again being celebrated by the District Council of Grant this ‘Pridevember’.

Council resolved to commit to fly the rainbow flag each year and update Council’s internal flag flying policy to reflect this at Ordinary Council Meeting held on Monday, 5 July 2021. In line with this resolution, Council will raise the rainbow flag throughout the month of November 2022.

The flying of the rainbow flag coincides with Adelaide’s annual Feast Festival; the city’s LGBTIQ+ Queer Arts and Cultural Festival promoting pride, community identity, inclusion, and celebration.

This year is the 25th anniversary of Feast Festival which has a full program of events organised across Adelaide throughout November to celebrate.

District Council of Grant Director Corporate Services, Gary Button, said Council is proud to support and promote inclusivity of all individuals within the district.

“Diversity within our community should be celebrated and flying the rainbow flag is a great opportunity to do so,” Mr Button said.

“Feast Festival is also an excellent initiative which the District Council of Grant is equally pleased to support, along with approximately 26 Councils state-wide, to help promote equality locally and throughout South Australia.”

The rainbow flag will be on display at Council’s principal office between 5 – 27 November 2022.
