Free Camping
The District Council of Grant offers many free camping sites for self-contained vehicles*. A District Council of Grant area map is also available here detailing free camping locations and other attractions within the district.
Eight Mile Creek Free Camping Sites: Bookings are mandatory for free camping sites located at 816 Eight Mile Creek Road and 828 Eight Mile Creek Road during the trial period between 1 December 2024 and 30 April 2025. Bookings can be made online at Book Easy: Eight Mile Creek. Council staff are also available to assist with bookings at the Port MacDonnell Community Complex.
Please Note: Camping is NOT permitted at the Little Blue Lake, Mount Schank or Allendale East Soldiers Memorial Park.

*A self-contained vehicle is defined as a vehicle that has toilet, washing, cooking and sleeping facilities. It must have holding capacity for fresh, grey and black water as well as storage capacity for garbage waste.
