There will be changes to MGB collections on Christmas Day, Wednesday 25 December 2019 only. If your collection service is usually on a Wednesday then please place your bins out ready for collection on Thursday 26 December 2019.

Mount Gambier & District Saleyards Ramping Up!
The District Council of Grant are very pleased with the announcement yesterday (24 November 2019) by the Minister for Agriculture, Food & Fisheries and Regional Development, the Hon Tim Whetstone, MP, of funding of $385,000 from the State Government’s Regional Growth Fund towards a co-funded $770,000 project for the Mount Gambier and District Saleyards.
Key Milestones Achieved on Mount Gambier Regional Airport Upgrade
Three major project milestones on the $9.2M the Mount Gambier Regional Airport have been achieved on time and within budget. The airfield ground lighting upgrade, runway extension and heavy aircraft apron are now completed and in service.

Council to Launch Community Consultation for The Waterfront

Waste Transfer Stations - Change of Opening Hours
Please note that due to a change in contractor covering the four Waste Transfer Stations, the opening hours have been slightly adjusted. Council have worked to ensure the total number of hours each site is open to the public remains the same.

Council Assessment Panel Gives Green Light to Airport Development
The Council Assessment Panel (CAP) has granted Development Plan Consent for the District Council of Grant to proceed with the redevelopment and expansion of the Mount Gambier Regional Airport Terminal Building. Based on an independent Development Assessment Report from Wayne Gladigau (MasterPlan) consent was given based on the plans prepared by Ashley Halliday Architecture. The development will be constructed within the existing footprint of the terminal building and also incorporate some vacant land on the north east side to allow for a larger terminal to be built; increasing the floor area to 1,060sqm.
Port MacDonnell Waste Transfer Station Closure - 5 & 6 October 2019
Due to a Community Event, the Port MacDonnell Waste Transfer Station will not open on Saturday 5 October and Sunday 6 October 2019. It will be open from 9am until 12 noon on Friday October 2019. All other sites will be open as normal.
Supplementary election – Central Ward
A supplementary election will be held to fill a vacancy in Central Ward following the resignation of a Councillor. The election will occur in December with the successful candidate’s term due to expire in November 2022.

Concept Design Revealed for Mount Gambier Regional Airport Upgrade
The release of the terminal concepts for Mount Gambier Regional Airport Upgrade marks another important achievement in the progress of this $9.2M project. A bold and fresh demonstration of modern architectural thinking, the terminal will be embedded in the landscape to create a memorable experience for passengers travelling to and from the Limestone Coast Region.
Waterfront Stage 2 Funding Announced
Stage 2 of the Waterfront redevelopment at Port MacDonnell will kick off in 2019 with a successful funding allocation by Minister Stephan Knoll through the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure. Awarded $352,500 for the project through the Planning and Development Fund, the District Council of Grant will co-fund 50% of the project with the State Government to take the project to the value of $705,000. The project will deliver new playground, fitness park, redevelopment of the town entrance at Standish Street and general landscaping across the Stage 1 and Stage 2 spaces.
2019-2020 Budget Adoption
The District Council of Grant 2019-2020 Budget was adopted on 24 June 2019, with a strong focus on financial sustainability and a long term financial strategy.

Annual Business Plan - Consultation

Council clarifies membership of the Mount Gambier Regional Airport Strategy Committee
Council wish to clarify that contrary to The Border Watch article 05 March 2019, the proposed membership of the Mount Gambier Regional Airport Strategy Committee (MGRASC) has not been endorsed by Council. The decision on membership was suspended on 18 February 2019 for further consideration and review before determining a final resolution.
