Award Nominations
Nominations for the District Council of Grant 2024 Australia Day Citizen of the Year Awards are open between Monday 18 September 2023 and Friday 17 November 2023.
We’re looking for those individuals who continue to make a difference in our Council area. Someone who contributes to our community, motivates those around them and reminds of us how great we can be when we’re at our best. These individuals could be a volunteer, an advocate, an entrepreneur, a researcher, a sporting legend or a community hero!
This is your chance to amplify someone’s story and contributions by nominating them for:
- Citizen of the Year (persons 30 years of age or older on 26 January 2024);
- Young Citizen of the Year (persons 16 to 30 years of age on 26 January 2024);
- Community Event of the Year (events staged during 2023); or
- Award for Active Citizenship (delivery of outstanding work on an event or cause staged during 2023).
The Awards rely on members of the public to nominate, the District Council of Grant encourage you to consider outstanding individuals in our community and submit a nomination.
Nominating is easy – visit citizenoftheyear.com.au and tell us who they are and how they’ve helped to make our community and state great. Alternatively, hard copy nomination forms are available to complete at and submit to:
- Principal Office: 324 Commercial Street West, Mount Gambier
- Port MacDonnell Community Complex: 5 Charles Street, Port MacDonnell.

Awards Ceremony 2023
The District Council of Grant host an Australia Day Celebration and Award Ceremony annually on 26 January.
