A Crafty Holiday Program at the Bay

Published 13th October 2020
The very popular Port MacDonnell Community Complex mixed things up for the October School Holidays offering a range of interactive and educational programs for young people visiting the centre.

The weekly Story Time sessions resumed for the first time since the beginning of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and it was fantastic to see regular families return as well as new faces and families drop in for a visit. During Term 3 Council staff worked behind the scenes to develop and deliver adapted programs as the usual in-library holiday programs could not operate.  New ideas such as take home craft packs were trialled with many families taking advantage of the initiative. Technology was an option too and the Wii, PlayStation and iPads were available for loan.

This approach has proved popular with over 100 take home packs sent out and 150 participants registered for the in-library activities. This, combined with the installation of the new pump track, meant that Port MacDonnell was a busy and active place and Council are thrilled to see people enjoy school holiday time locally.

For more information or to book in to upcoming sessions, contact the Port MacDonnell Community Complex on (08) 8738 3000 or email pmcc@dcgrant.sa.gov.au.
