Community Input Sought for New Strategic Plan

Published 20th November 2019
The District Council of Grant is seeking community input as it commences a 10 year strategic planning journey.

With the current Strategic Plan coming to an end in 2020, Council have commenced development of a new plan, an opportune time following the formation of a new Elected Member group late 2018 and the appointment of Darryl Whicker as the Chief Executive Officer in October this year.

Mr David Harding, Executive Director Excelerate Consulting Group, had been appointed to consult on this process in conjunction with the community, Elected Members and Council staff.

Council are now asking the community, residents and ratepayers to provide input into the priorities for Council via a survey that will be open from Monday 25 November 2019 and will close Tuesday 10 January 2020.

“This Strategic Plan is a significant body of work because it galvanises the Elected Member Group, Staff, Community and Stakeholders to consider, debate and articulate our vision and plan for the future.  Furthermore, Council have made the decision to extend the Strategic Plan timeframe from four years to ten to align with Councils Long Term Financial Plan. Council intends to conduct a progress review and re-assess its strategies at the four year mark of the plan” stated Mr Whicker.

“We value input from the community and want to ensure that as many community members as possible are included in this process. The end result should be a culmination of well-considered community engagement and planning”.

A community consultation timeline has been created, kicking off with an initial online survey available at https://yoursaydcg.com.au/ or through hard copy format at both the Port MacDonnell Community Complex and the Mount Gambier Council Office.

To provide further support to the community in the initial phases of consultation, three drop in sessions have been arranged which will involve the Mayor, Elected Members, the Chief Executive Officer and Senior Management Team of Council:
