Media Release: Community Grant Opportunity Now Open

Published 31st October 2022

Applications are now open for Round 2 of Council’s Community Grants Scheme, and community groups, hall committees and sporting clubs across the District Council of Grant are invited to apply.

Council offers a total funding pool of $36,000 within the financial year for projects that enhance community wellbeing, such as security system installation, amenity upgrades and kitchen renovations, and increase participation in social and leisure activities across the district.

Since 2012, Council has invested over $580,000 towards various community groups, halls and sporting clubs throughout the district via the Community Grants Scheme.

District Council of Grant Growth and Tourism Manager, Rebecca Perkin, said the grants scheme is a fantastic opportunity for local organisations.

“Council is pleased to be able to provide two rounds of community grants each year. It is an opportunity to partner with local not-for-profit sporting and community groups on projects that increase social participation, which we know is an important factor in wellbeing,” Ms Perkin said.

“These grants continue to be well supported, with 13 applications being received in Round 1 earlier this year.”

Three grant categories are available:

“Council is pleased to invest in local groups and support projects that reinforce the social connections that help make our district a great place to live. I encourage all eligible groups to make the most of this opportunity and submit an application.” Ms Perkin said.
