Sea Slip, the lead contractors for this project, will be onsite from Thursday 19 December until Monday 23 December 2019 undertaking the demolition and removal of the existing timber structures and installing the new pontoons.
The current boat ramps are ageing and unstable and do not move with river tides, making access difficult for boat launching. The new installations, which will match the 2017 upgraded Donovans Landing, will connect new aluminium/composite floating pontoons to the existing concrete abutments, enabling safe boat launching to occur with tidal flows of the river.
There will also be cleats and fire retardant decking mats; reducing an identified slip risk hazard for users.
The opening of the new ramps comes in time for the Christmas and summer holidays when many people frequent the Glenelg River to go boating, fishing or spend time enjoying the nature-based tourism opportunities in the area.

The South Australian Boating Facilities Advisory Committee (SABFAC) managed by the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) and the District Council of Grant contributed $97,000 each to this project.
